The Lincoln Police Department will hold a community town hall at Nebraska Wesleyan University on October 13. LPD Captain Max Hubka says the event is designed to give residents an opportunity to hear about current department work, future concerns and developments, and ask questions directly of police.
“I want everyone to feel like they’re in the know and invited to come listen to what we’ve been working on, listen to what we’re hearing about as far as future problems, talk about maybe some future developments, things that are going on within the department, and then also a question-and-answer session,” Hubka tells KLIN News.
Hubka hopes to hold a town hall each year as part of the department’s effort to strengthen relationships with residents in the Northeast team area. “One of my goals on the Northeast team is to hold town halls and get people connected with us and invite them to have a good interaction with us and all the positives that come from it.”
The town hall will also provide another way for residents to raise concerns, particularly for those who may not be able to attend neighborhood or homeowners association meetings. “This is just another opportunity for anybody that wants to hear about LPD or anybody that has concerns that they feel aren’t being addressed by us that we can help with.”
The town hall will begin at 6:00 p.m. at Nebraska Wesleyan’s Olin Lecture Hall near 51st and Madison. Residents will be able to submit questions before the presentation, followed by a question-and-answer session with police.
