Lincoln Police say a 32-year-old man was shot in the head late Monday morning.  LPD Assistant Chief Jason Stille says someone called 911 just after 11:00 a.m. to report someone who had been shot near 14th and ‘B.

He says officers arrived two minutes later and found the victim conscious and alert. Stille says initially the wounds did appear life-threatening. But at this time no longer does it appear to be life-threatening.  “It doesn’t appear that the bullet penetrated the skull.

Stille says about ten minutes later, a 38-year-old person matching the description of the suspect was taken into custody neat 12th and ‘B. He says a gun was found in a storm drain near the 38-year-old person-of-interest.

“It appears there’s some blood leading from an apartment there, and we’re gonna go in and investigate and capture some of those details,” Stille says.  The shooting happened a block from Everett Elementary. Principal Mike Long sent a letter to families saying the school was placed on secure status, meaning there is something of concern happening outside of the school.

Everyone is brought inside the building and entrances are locked and monitored. Teaching and learning, along with movement inside the building, happens as normal.
