Registration is now open for the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce’s annual Federal Legislative Summit, one of Nebraska’s premier business and public policy events.
The summit will be held in August at the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum in Ashland and will feature members of Nebraska’s federal delegation discussing issues affecting the state’s economy, businesses and communities.
The event is jointly hosted by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Omaha Chamber of Commerce and the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Lincoln Chamber President Jason Ball said the summit takes advantage of Congress’s August recess to bring Nebraska’s elected leaders together with business executives and community leaders.
“We’re able to bring all of Nebraska’s federal delegation back pending availability,” Ball said.
Ball said U.S. Senator Deb Fischer is expected to miss this year’s event because of commitments in Washington, D.C., but Nebraska’s four other members of Congress are expected to participate.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Ross Perot Jr., chairman of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Ball said he recently met with Perot through the U.S. Chamber’s invitation-only Committee of 100, where chamber executives from around the country advise the national organization on business priorities.
“He was with us the entire day… just a very genuine person, really enjoyable person to talk to about business and big trends,” Ball said. “I’m very excited for Ross Perot Jr.’s talk with us coming up at the Federal Legislative Summit.”
The annual summit gives attendees an opportunity to hear directly from Nebraska’s congressional delegation and national business leaders on federal policy, economic development and issues affecting employers across the state.
