The Nebraska athletic department announced Tuesday that the Cornhuskers will open the 2027 football season at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Nebraska will face Miami of Ohio on Aug. 27, 2027.
It will be the second time in three years the Huskers will open their football season at the home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Nebraska opened the 2025 season with a 20-17 win over Cincinnati at Arrowhead, before a crowd of predominantly Husker fans. Nebraska was originally slated to face the Redhawks at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln on Sept. 11, but moved the game to the season opener after the FBS Oversight committee made changes to the playing calendar allowing schools to start a week earlier. The Huskers expect to have a Big Ten game on Sept. 11, with home non-conference games against Northern Illinois Sept. 4 and Northern Iowa Sept. 18.
The matchup with Miami in Kansas City will not be part of Nebraska’s seven-game season ticket package for 2027. Ticket information for the game at Arrowhead will be available at a later date.
Nebraska and Miami (Ohio) have also agreed to an additional matchup with the contest scheduled for Sept. 6, 2031, in Lincoln.
