Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill in South Lincoln Reopens After Fire

By Chase Porter Apr 16, 2024 | 1:10 PM

Lazlo’s Brewery and Grill near 59th and Old Cheney has officially reopened, after a chimney fire in late-December closed down the business for about three months.

Lazlo’s confirmed their reopening on social media, and thanked the community for their patience during kitchen renovations.

The self described laid-back brewpub also said they took the interim to install a new point-of-sales system.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue was sent to Lazlo’s South Lincoln location on December 27th around 8:45 p.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the roof area. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says it took crews about 15 minutes to put the fire out.

The fire started on the wood fire grill and extended into the exhaust hood system, the entire length of the chimney, to which the fire was primarily contained. The kitchen did sustain substantial water damage, and the rest of the restaurant had some smoke and water damage.

20 people inside at the restaurant at the time were safely evacuated.
