Fire heavily damaged Lazlo’s Brewery and Grill near 59th and Old Cheney around 8:45 Tuesday night. When LFR crews arrived they found smoke and flames coming from the roof area. Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says it took crews about 15 minutes to put the fire out.
“The fire started on the wood fire grill and extended into the exhaust hood system, the entire length of the chimney.” She says the fire was coming from seams and joints of the large metal chimney. The fire was primarily contained to the chimney area, but the kitchen sustained substantial water damage The rest of the restaurant restaurant has some smoke and water damage.
There were 20 people inside at the time and they were able to safely evacuate. In a Facebook post Lazlo’s management said due to the extensive damage the restaurant will be closed until further notice.
