A local event is set to bring the community together for an exciting moment in space exploration.  Branched Oak Observatory Executive Director Matt Anderson tells KLIN News they will be hosting a Splash Down Party on Friday evening.

“They’re supposed to splash down between six and eight, so we’re going to be open from 5-9 and people can come in and enjoy a nice big screen to watch,” Anderson says. The event will feature a special appearance by Mike the Meteorite, adding an extra element of fun for space enthusiasts of all ages.

Admission is $5 and includes light snacks.  Guests can also purchase a limited-edition Artemis II T-shirt.  Anderson says the community has shown a lot of interest in this major  return to deep space, marking the first crewed mission to orbit the Moon since 1972.

“The curiosity level, the questions, people wanting to know more, has been wonderful.  It’s been an amazing experience so far.”
