Public Hearing Over Proposed Arena

It may be the last chance to speak out about the proposed West Haymarket Arena before a vote in the project in May.

The Lincoln City Council will take public testimony during their meeting Monday afternoon about the $344 million project.

Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler unveiled the funding proposal about a week ago. A large portion of the funding would come from a occupation tax increase on bars, restaurants, hotels and rental cars among other things.

The Mayor says the funding mechanism is set up so that it doesn't include money from an outside management company, such as ISG, which has already pledge $75 million.

The City Council meeting begins at 3 p.m. Monday.
