Lincoln Police continue to investigate after a 16-year-old boy drowned at Holmes Lake Thursday night.  LPD and Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were called to the lake near the Holmes Lake Hyde Observatory around 9:30 p.m.

Police say the teen was walking with a family member on the trail and ended up going for a swim.   The family member called 911 after losing view of him.  “Rescue divers from Lincoln Fire and Rescue and air and maritime units from the Nebraska State Patrol assisted in the search,” says Captain Duane Winkler.

His body was found about an hour later.  His name is not being released pending family notification.  LPD says there are no indications of anything other than accidental death.  Police say that Lincoln Public Schools will send out a message to families regarding the accidental drowning.
