A United Airlines flight made an unscheduled landing at Lincoln Airport around 10:30 Wednesday morning. Director of Communications Rachel Barth says there was a smell of smoke in the cabin and the flight from Las Vegas to Newark, New Jersey was diverted to Lincoln.
“It was more precautionary. They did the right thing by diverting here and getting everyone off the aircraft.” The 50 passengers were taken into the south checkpoint while mechanics checked out the plane.
She says United eventually sent another plane to Lincoln so the passengers could complete their trip to New Jersey.
