What started as a small segment on a Friday morning in 2021 has turned into a movement in the Lincoln area.

We all remember the era of radio and music where, in order to hear the songs you loved, you had to call your local radio station and ask them to play it, and while it’s nice to have every song ever written in the palm of your hand, there’s nothing like thinking of a song you want to hear, reaching out to your favorite radio station to request it and then waiting to hear the song and your name on the radio.

We found out that many of you enjoy the nostalgia of that experience too, more than we could have ever imagined. So, Request Line Friday was born on LNK Today with Jack and Friends.

Now, every week the guys open up the Rixstine Recognition Text Line at (402) 479-1400 and invite you to text in your requests for the coming Friday. Sometimes, it’s a free for all, with no boundaries on the songs you want to hear (provided they are playable on the radio, if you know what we mean). And sometimes we put a seasonal, holiday, or event-related theme on the week.

The result has been wildly popular Friday shows that literally feature the widest variety of music on any station in America.
