LFR crews were called to an apartment complex early Monday morning on North 1st Street between Cornhusker and Adams. Crews found heavy fire coming from a pair of two story townhomes just before 4:00 a.m.
They were able to quickly extinguished the fire, preventing further spread to adjacent apartments. LFR Captain Nancy Crist says the fire did spread to the attic space of the townhomes. Several people were evacuated and an unknown number of residents were displaced.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The estimated damage amount is $250,000 to the building and $100,000 to contents.
