On Wednesday at her campaign headquarters Nebraska First District Congressional candidate Patty Pansing Brooks introduced a group of Republican and Nonpartisan supporters.
Pansing Brooks, a Democrat, expressed her appreciation for the support of so many Republican and Nonpartisan voters in her campaign. “The support we are receiving from so many Republican and Nonpartisan voters demonstrates how my message of bipartisanship is resonating,” Pansing Brooks says. “People are tired of the political atmosphere in Washington and want leadership that knows how to bridge the divides and work across the aisle to solve problems. I have been that leader in the Nebraska Legislature and I will be that leader in Washington.”
A few of the people attending today’s news conference explained why they are supporting Senator Pansing Brooks. “I am a life-long public school teacher and life-long Republican,” says Trudy Hines. “Today I stand here as a Republican for Patty because she is on the record as working with both sides to create the best solutions for all. I consider this vote for Patty to be the most important vote I will make this year.”
Matt Kirkland, a Lincoln realtor and nonpartisan voter, expressed the same confidence. “Patty has a proven record of getting things done that matter to her constituents and helps make Nebraska a better place. I have confidence that she will go to Congress and represent all Nebraskans.”
Next month voters will decide if Pansing Brooks or Republican Mike Flood will serve the next two year term for the seat formerly held by Jeff Fortenberry. Flood defeated Pansing Brooks in a June 28th special election to serve the remaining six months of Fortenberry’s term.
