Lincoln Police have arrested two teenagers in connection with the City’s latest murder. Police were called to an apartment near 40th and Highway 2 around 4:00 Monday afternoon and found that 70 year old Jesse Gilmer had been stabbed to death.
Police Chief Teresa Ewins says 15 year old Sallie Gilmer called 911 to report she came home from school and found her father stabbed. After being interviewed by investigators and the collection of physical evidence at the apartment, Gilmer and her 16 year old boyfriend Isaac Honigschmidt were arrested for the killing.
Gilmer was arrested for 1st degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. Honigschmidt was arrested for aiding and abetting first degree murder. Lancaster County Attorney Pat Condon says both teens will be charged as adults.
Ewins says it’s not known what led to the murder, the city’s tenth this year. “Obviously, a daughter killing her father is difficult to understand.”
