Lincoln Man Sentenced For Conspiracy To Distribute Meth

By Tom Stanton May 13, 2021 | 4:33 PM

A 35 year old Lincoln man was sentenced on Thursday to more than 11 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in the Lincoln area between June of 2019 and April of 2020. Following the prison term, Juan Torres-Torres will serve five years on supervised release.  There is no parole in the federal system. Torres agreed to the forfeiture of more than $4,000.00 in cash.  Torres is a citizen of Mexico and will likely be deported after he completes his prison term.

According to the U-S Attorney’s Office, information obtained by law enforcement indicated that Torres was responsible for the distribution of more than five ounces of pure methamphetamine and approximately 3 pounds of methamphetamine mixture.  On two occasions in February of 2020, Torres sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant working with the Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force.

One of those sales involved more than six ounces of actual methamphetamine and the other involved approximately 5 ½ ounces of methamphetamine mixture.  On April 21, 2020, Torres was stopped by a Lincoln Police Department officer and arrested on an outstanding broadcast.  Lancaster County Jail staff found approximately a half ounce of actual methamphetamine in Torres’s boot and $4,052 cash in his pockets and wallet.
