Lincoln Police have released more details in a Wednesday morning crash at 70th and Cornhusker that killed one person and critically injured another.
LPD says just before 7:00 a.m. officers discovered that a 2014 Ford Flex had collided with a Mack dump truck loaded with materials, weighing approximately 95,000 pounds. According to multiple witnesses, the driver of the Mack truck was westbound on Cornhusker Highway approaching North 70th Street on a green traffic light.
Police say the Ford Flex was southbound on North 70th Street approaching Cornhusker Highway on a red traffic light. The driver of the Mack truck and witnesses said that the driver of the Ford Flex ran the red light and pulled out in front of the Mack truck.
The collision spilled the contents of the Mack truck into the intersection, which required several hours to clear. The driver of the Ford Flex, 24 year old David McClain was pronounced dead at the scene. His front seat passenger, 44 year old Kristie Jones was transported by LFR to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition.
The driver of the Mack truck suffered pain to his left elbow, neck, and back due to the collision.
