An arrest is made in the theft of two vehicles and tools from two different locations in July.

On July 19th, Lincoln Police were called to 7600 Old Post Road after employees of Wellington Greens Homeowners Association reported one of the shop doors was found open. A 2006 Chevy Silverado and landscaping tools were missing. The total loss was $16,800.

On Sunday, July 31st, Lincoln Police were called to the Indian Hills Church at 1000 South 84th Street. A Ford E350 van and a number of tools were taken totaling $12,465.

At 6:15 p.m. Sunday, officers saw both stolen vehicles in a parking lot of 86th and Lexington and saw 47 year old Mitchell Wachter working on the van. As officers approached, Wachter ran. He was tackled by an officer but quickly broke free and started running again. That was when a taser was deployed and he was taken into custody.

Officers recovered both vehicles and many of the stolen tools.

Inside the pickup was a bag on the front seat that contained a loaded 9mm handgun. Wachter is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing weapons.

Wachter was booked for 1 counts of burglary, 2 counts of theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and one count of being a habitual criminal.
