The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly crash that happened at 9:43 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies received reports of a reckless driver in a white Hummer speeding and going into oncoming lanes on Highway 6 near the intersection of Highway 63.
The Hummer continued westbound on Highway 6 towards Greenwood. At Highway 6 and Greenwood Drive, the Hummer hit a 2006 Toyota Scion causing it to go into a ditch and roll. The Hummer then swerved into oncoming eastbound traffic and hit a 2019 Ford Fusion head-on.
The driver of the Fusion is identified as Tammy Callaway, age 42 of Greenwood. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Hummer is identified as Cheyanne Baker, age 31 of Lincoln. Baker was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Occupants of the Toyota have been identified as June and Brad Hoschele of Lincoln and they were treated and released for minor injuries.
The investigation continues.
