Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to a home in the 1900 block of Harwood around 11 p.m. Saturday, July 9th. Fire had been reported on the 2nd floor of a two story home.
Five adults and one dog were displaced and received assistance from the American Red Cross. One person was taken to a hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries.
An LFR fire investigator first thought the fire was caused by improperly disposed of smoking material. A resident then told LFR that incense was put into a holder and lit. It was then placed inside a closet.
There is $5,000 damage to the home and $1,000 in property loss.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue were also called to the 4000 block of Lewis Avenue around 12 p.m. on Friday, July 8th for a garage fire. LFR reports this was a detached garage and the fire was contained to that structure. The garage was filled with possessions and the estimated loss of property is $20,000. Damage to the garage is $5,000. No one was hurt.
