Five State Recreation Areas To Allow Fireworks On The Fourth

By Tom Stanton Jun 30, 2022 | 6:00 AM

If you’re looking to spend the Fourth of July in a state recreation area Nebraska Game and Parks officials say visitors will be allowed to touch off fireworks on Monday.

The areas that will permit fireworks from 8 a.m. until midnight on Monday are Branched Oak , Fort Kearny, Memphis, Pawnee and Wagon Train. Signs at the recreation areas will point the way to designated fireworks sites, and boundaries will be clearly marked.  Setting off  fireworks in any other areas or at other times is prohibited.

Game and Parks officials say only fireworks approved for sale in Nebraska by the state fire marshal are permitted, and visitors must pick up spent fireworks and put them in the appropriate containers.

Young children must be supervised when lighting fireworks.  A park entry permit is required for all vehicles entering state recreation areas.
