18 People Killed On Nebraska Roads In May

The Nebraska Department of Transportation reports that during the month of May, eighteen people were killed on Nebraska roadways.

The 18 deaths occurred in 17 different crashes. Six of the 12 vehicle occupants killed were not wearing seatbelts. Three were buckled up and three had seatbelt use marked as unknown.

Twelve of the accidents were in rural areas. None of the fatalities happened on the interstate but 16 occurred on other highways and two on local roads.

Three of those who died were pedestrians and three were motorcyclists.

There were 15 fatalities in May of 2021. Only 26 of the 84 vehicle occupants killed in 2020 were wearing seatbelts.

From January to May of 2022, there have been 103 fatalities in 90 crashes. In the same time period in 2021, there were 77 fatalities 63 crashes.
