Record Heat Forecast Monday

Record breaking heat is expected in Lincoln today with the actual temperature expected around 103 degrees, breaking the old record of 102 degrees set in 1952.  Southwest winds will gust today to near 30 mph.

Tuesday should see a slight break in temps with a high of 98 degrees and south winds gusting to 35 mph.

…HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING…

 * WHAT…Heat index values from 105 to 109 are expected.

* WHERE…Portions of east central, northeast and southeast  Nebraska and southwest and west central Iowa.

* WHEN…From 1 PM this afternoon to 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS…Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat  illnesses to occur.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
