Lincoln Electric System says there has been an increase in phone scams by those posing as LES and threatening to disconnect power unless an immediate payment is made.
LES officials say if you receive a call like this, hang up and call them at 402-475-4211. LES will never demand payment of a bill through email, over the phone or in person at your home or business.
They also never ask for payment through pre-paid debit cards or an app. LES will notify you with a notice on your bill if it is past due.
