Nebraska’s leading economic indicator remained strong in April according to the latest survey by the UNL Bureau of Business Research.
The April Index was up a healthy 1.85% with 4 of the 6 components showing improvement. The manufacturing hours component was up .11%, airline passenger enplanings up .52%, business expectations up .77% and initial unemployment claims up .78%. The dollar exchange rate component was down .14% and building permits component down .20%.
Dr. Eric Thompson, Director of the Bureau of Business Research at UNL told KLIN News, “Nebraska businesses, despite all the challenges, continue to see opportunity in the future.”
The Leading Economic Indicator is designed to predict economic activity six months in the future. April’s report signals that the Nebraska economy will continue to grow through the 4th quarter of 2022.
