A Sunday afternoon crash involving two vehicles caused some big problems near 33rd and Cornhusker. “Suspect vehicle was a silver pickup truck that apparently had left the roadway and struck multiple power poles in that area before turning into oncoming traffic and striking a vehicle,” says LPD Captain Max Hubka.
He tells KLIN News the pickup fled the scene but was found about 4-blocks away. The driver was injured and hospitalized. “Once he is released he will be lodged at the Lancaster County Jail for leaving the scene of an injury accident, which is a felony, as well as cited for reckless driving.”
The other driver was checked and dismissed from the hospital. The damage to the power poles was extensive and caused power outages in the area that lasted for several hours. The investigation continues.
