The sudden shift of weather from rather chilly to hot is a huge challenge for many of the guests at People’s City Mission. Pastor Tom Barber told Jack Mitchell on LNK Today many arrive with very small wardrobes and most are geared towards colder weather.
“Because they’re not prepared, they don’t have the clothing really for the changing seasons. So this is a time that we can make a big difference to the homeless by simply looking in our closets and grabbing things we don’t need that are in pretty good shape,” Barber says.
He says it’s not just the homeless who need the help. “A lot of folks are struggling with poverty or struggling financially, especially now with the economy the way it is. If you have any warmer weather clothing items to donate you can drop them off at 68th and P Street or the neighborhood donation boxes.
