The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department announces the Arbor Day event that was originally scheduled for April 29th has been rescheduled for May 13th. The event was canceled due to inclement weather and wet conditions. The celebration will start at 1 p.m. at Roper Park located at 3425 N 8th Street.
The Roper East Disc Golf Course and the Roper Dog Run at North 17th and Adams will be closed from noon to 5 p.m.
Arbor Day is celebrating 150 years. It began on April 10, 1872 and more than one million trees were planted in the state. The Parks Department and volunteers from the Arbor Day Foundation, Black Hills Energy, Leadership Link, Meadow Lane Area Residents Association, the Nebraska Department of Energy and the Environment, and Woods Green Team will plant 150 trees in four city parks this spring.
