The Lincoln Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted a Red Light/Distracted Driving Detail from April 1 to April 22. Officers focused on traffic enforcement efforts near high crash locations to help deter red light violations.
The project, which was funded through a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation- Highway Safety Office, resulted in 206 total violations.
Among the citations were 60 for no valid registration. There were 42 traffic signal violations and 21 warnings issued. 21 drivers were cited for not having insurance and nine for not wearing a seatbelt. One speeding ticket was issued.
