The Nebraska Department of Agriculture reports a seventh confirmed case of bird flu in the state. The farm is in Knox County and the flock is over 2.1 million laying hens.
NDA State Veterinarian Dr. Roger Dudley says the farm the farm has been quarantined and the birds will be humanely disposed of. NDA will establish a 6.2 mile control zone around the affected area.
Fairs, expos, swap meets, live bird auctions, and exotic sales were prohibited through April 30th. That ban has been extended through May 15th and the order will be re-evaluated at that time.
