On Monday, The Lincoln City Council approved a settlement with Elise Pool against the city after she was injured on May 31, 2020 during the riots that erupted following the George Floyd protests.

Pool was hit by a rubber bullet in the face and she injured her nose, almost severing it from her face. Poole was protesting when impact munitions and chemical agents were used on those attending the event.

Poole filed suit against the City of Lincoln, the Lincoln Police Department an the Chief of Police, Lancaster County, the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Terry Wagner along with unnamed officers and deputies.

Earlier this month it was determined that Lancaster County, the Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Terry Wagner and those unnamed deputies did not use excessive force. They were dismissed as defendants in this lawsuit. Lancaster County did not pay any damages to Poole.

Poole continues to recover.
