Firefighters continue to work hard to contain the Road 702 Fire. As of Sunday afternoon, the multi-Mission Aircraft from Colorado mapped the fire area and the current acreage is 41,155.

Branch 1 encompasses the area from Cambridge west along the fire edge and south of Lebanon, Nebraska. Bull dozers have been knocking down fire weakened trees so firefighters can work in those areas. Monday, firefighters will continue to secure the fire line by cleaning up hotspots that threaten control lines and work to cool down areas of heat in timbered areas.
Branch II on the east side encompasses east and south perimeters of the fire from Cambridge south to Wilsonville and into Kansas. On Monday, firefighters will be supported by aerial resources and continue to secure the fire line. Bull Dozers will also be used there to remove hazard trees.
There are no evacuations in place. The public is asked to continue to avoid the Road 702 Fire are and use extreme caution when driving in areas with reduced visibility due to smoke and dust. There are many interior pockets of unburned variegation in the fire perimeter and as winds shift or increase, these areas with the fire may burn. Residents in and around the fire should expect to see flare-ups and smoke.
The threat of additional fire growth remains as firefighters extinguish hotspots in brushy draws and near structures.
