…DENSE FOG ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CDT THIS MORNING…
Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog across portions of east central and southeast Nebraska and southwest and west central Iowa.
Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility can be expected. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
Today and Tonight:
High to Very high fire dangers will be present across portions of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa this afternoon. Scattered shower and thunderstorm activity will move into the region between 5 PM and 10 PM this evening, then linger on and off through sunrise Friday.
A couple storms may be severe, with hail to the size of quarters. Total rainfall amounts of 0.10 to 0.75 inches are possible.
Friday through the Weekend:
High to Very high fire dangers will be with us again on Friday. Additional severe thunderstorm activity is possible Friday afternoon and late Friday night, mainly in northeast Nebraska.
Severe storm may also develop along the Missouri River Valley Saturday afternoon. Strong southerly winds are expected Friday afternoon into Saturday.
The potential exists for peak wind gusts in the 45 to 65 mph range. These winds will make travel difficult for high profile vehicles, especially along east to west highways like Interstate 80. Tree damage or isolated power outages may also occur.
