Lincoln Police are looking for a car that was involved in a hit and run just before midnight Sunday at 70th and Highway 2. “It appears a westbound vehicle on Highway 2 was attempting to turn southbound onto South 70th street when it left the roadway and struck a traffic signal box located on the southwest corner of the intersection,” says LPD Captain Todd Kocian.

The vehicle fled the scene and was the only description police have is a smaller silver or grey car, possibly a Honda or Nissan.  Damage to the traffic signal box was estimated at $30,000.   Kocian says the crash knocked out power to the traffic signals and LTU crews were able to make the necessary repairs before the Monday morning rush hour traffic.

Kocian says the vehicle will likely have significant damage. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000 or CrimeStoppers at 402-475-3600.
