Lincoln Police were called to a home in the 6200 block of Hartley Street just before 3:00 Thursday morning on a report of several males, dressed in dark clothing, trying to cut a catalytic converter off a vehicle.
When officers arrived they contacted a 22-year-old man who said he heard ‘sawing’ noises coming from his driveway. He opened the door and saw three individuals under the vehicle. He told police he retrieved a shotgun from his home and when he returned, the individuals were getting into a dark colored SUV parked in the street.
Police say the man fired one round from his shotgun in the direction of the SUV that was fleeing the area. Police say at this time, it’s not known if the SUV was struck. Damage to the victim’s vehicle estimated at $500. LPD says they are looking into the victim’s actions to see if charges will be filed for discharging a firearm in City limits.
