Lincoln Police were called to the Wells Fargo Bank at 14th and P Street at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a check fraud.
Lincoln Police say the bank was informed that a number of checks had been stolen from Land-O-Lakes and to be on the lookout for them.
A 31 year old woman walked into the bank with one of those checks written for more than $1,000 and tried to cash it. The teller informed her she would have to run the check prior to cashing it and the woman took off. In her rush to leave the bank she left her state issued ID card behind.
The bank did not have a financial loss due to this forged attempted transaction. The search for the suspect continues.
