A man is facing charges after LPD says he led officers on a chase around 1:20 Wednesday morning.  Captain Todd Kocian says around 1:30 a.m. officers saw a black Pontiac Bonneville driving with no license plates in the area of NW 12th Street and I-80.

An officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Kocian says  44-year-old Terrence Turner fled.   Officers pursued the vehicle to the 200 block of NW 22nd Street, where the Bonneville finally stopped.

“Officers detained Turner and a 48-year-old female passenger.  Officers observed several open alcohol containers in the vehicle and searched the vehicle for further contraband.”

Kocian says officers found a machete with a 10-inch blade shoved between the driver’s seat and the center console and a bag with methamphetamine residue in a backpack behind the driver’s seat.

Turner was found to be a convicted felon and to have a suspended license.  Turner was arrested for Possessing a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Possessing of a Controlled Substance, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, Driving Under Suspension, No Proof of Ownership, and No Proof of Insurance.
