Lincoln firefighters responded to their seventh house fire in the past couple of weeks early Wednesday morning. LFR’s Nancy Crist says the fire broke out in a duplex near 20th and Worthington Avenue around 5:40 a.m.
“On our arrival we did see some smoke and residents were out of the structure. There is substantial smoke and some water damage.” Crist says the estimated damage to the home and contents is $175,000. She says firefighters faced some challenges once they got inside.
“The home had a lot of obstacles, there was some debris throughout the home,” Crist says. “It just causes a little bit of extra work in finding the scene of the fire when we have a lot of things stacked up in the home.”
She says it appears an electrical cord from a lamp sparked the fire.
