Less than 48 hours after a disappointing loss at No. 21 Ohio State, Nebraska women’s basketball cruised to a dominating 82-63 victory at Illinois.
The Huskers (18-6, 7-6 Big Ten) controlled the game from the tip, scoring the first nine points of the game. That momentum turned carried Big Red into a 45-26 lead at halftime.
An evenly played second half saw NU win the third quarter 19-18 while the Illini (6-14, 1-8 Big ten) took the fourth quarter with an identical 19-18 score.
Nebraska got big games from two of the Australians. Jaz Shelley scored a team-high 21 points to go with six rebounds. Issie Bourne added 17 points and seven rebounds.
The Huskers assisted on 17 of the 28 made baskets, contributing to the 44.4 percent shooting and nine made triples.
A much more difficult opponent awaits NU Monday when No. 7 Indiana comes to Lincoln.
