Nebraska Embarrassed at Iowa

By Kaleb Henry Feb 13, 2022 | 3:23 PM

The momentum for Nebraska’s first conference win of the season lasted just three-and-a-half days.

Iowa (17-7, 7-6 Big Ten) took advantage of a 42-10 run in the first half to cruise to a 98-75 victory.

The Huskers fall to 7-18 on the season, including 1-13 in the Big Ten Conference.

A lack of energy and focus contributed to the first half run that put the game out of reach. Nebraska committed 12 turnovers and shot 31 percent over the initial 20 minutes. The Hawkeyes, meanwhile, scored 19 points off of turnovers and made 48.8 percent of their shots over that same stretch.

The second half was better for Nebraska, shooting at a 54.5 percent clip, but that was due in large part to the Iowa team looking disinterested for the majority of the game after halftime.

Three Huskers scored in double figures, led by Derrick Walker’s 14 points. Walker also added a team-high six rebounds.

Bryce McGowens and Eduardo Andre added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Nebraska returns home Friday to host Maryland in the second-to-last home game of the season.
