Bob Phares of North Platte assumed the role of chairman of the NU Board of Regents during Friday’s meeting. Phares served as vice chairman in 2021. Regent Tim Clare of Lincoln was elected vice chairman of the Board. Clare will become chair in 2023 in accordance with Board policy.
Phares was appointed to the Board in 2006 and served as chairman in 2010 and 2015. He is a former mayor of North Platte and was president and owner of Phares Financial Services Inc., a financial planning and insurance firm. Phares has served as board chairman of the North Platte Chamber of Commerce and president of the North Platte Rotary Club.
Clare is a partner at Rembolt Ludtke law firm in Lincoln. He was elected to the Board in 2008.
