Lincoln drivers should prepare for several street closures and parking restrictions near Bryan East Campus from November 3 through November 8 as crews prepare to move the historic William Jennings Bryan house.

Lincoln Transportation and Utilities says Sumner Street between 48th and 52nd streets will close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, and remain closed through Sunday, November 8. 52nd Street between Sumner and ‘A’ streets will also close from Thursday, November 5, through Sunday, November 8. Access will be maintained for residents.

The house is scheduled to be moved to the corner of 52nd and ‘A’ Street on Saturday, November 7. The Bryan Medical Center emergency room will remain accessible from 49th Street between South and Sumner streets. Electronic message boards will direct drivers to the entrance. Hospital entrances on 48th Street and A Street will also remain open.

Temporary no-parking restrictions will be enforced through November 8 on portions of 49th, 50th, 51st and 52nd streets to accommodate the move and maintain emergency room access. StarTran Route 53-SouthPointe will be detoured during the work.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and exercise caution near the closures. Project dates may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
