The Nebraska men’s basketball team fell in its first exhibition game of the year, losing to defending to Atlantic-10 Conference champion Saint Louis 79-74 Friday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Cornhuskers led at halftime, 39-37, but the Nebraska offense went quiet in the second half. The Huskers shot 37.5 percent from the field and just 25 percent from beyond the arc. The starting lineup of Braden Frager, Trevin Leonhardt, Pryce Sandfort, Cale Jacobsen and Baden Kaplan played a combined 29 minutes in the second half.

Newcomer Jacob Lanier led Nebraska in scoring with 15 points while Jacobsen added 10. Kellen Thames and Amari McCottry both scored 11 points to lead the Billikens.

The Huskers’ second exhibition game of the preseason will be Friday, Oct. 16 at BYU at 8 p.m. Pregame coverage begins at 7 p.m. on KLIN.
