No. 1 Nebraska volleyball completed a three-win week with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-27, 25-14 win over Florida Gulf Coast Sunday at John Cook Arena. The Cornhuskers have started a season 10-0 for the 17th time in school history.
Nebraska’s defense was dominant, as the Huskers outblocked the Eagles, 16-4, the most blocks for NU in a match since they had 20 against Maryland in 2024. Florida Gulf Coast mustered a meager .068 hitting percentage for the match.
Teraya Sigler led Nebraska with a season-high 13 kills, while Harper Murray had 11 kills on .556 hitting percentage. Manaia Ogbechie piled up eight blocks and four aces as well.
Set one began tight, with the Huskers holding a narrow 9-7 lead. But then Nebraska ran 12 straight points to all but clinch the set. In the second, the Huskers scored five in a row as part of building a 9-3 lead early. FGCU cut the Nebraska lead to 13-10, but drew no closer. The third set was hotly contested throughout, with FGCU scoring eight of 10 points to open a 24-20 lead. Nebraska surged back with five straight to bring up matchpoint, but the Eagles scored three in a row to take the third set. In the fourth, the Huskers bolted out to a 9-3 lead. FGCU pulled to within 11-9 before Nebraska pulled away, dominating to a set four win.
The Huskers now prepare for their final non-conference match of the regular season, as they’ll host Missouri Wednesday night at John Cook Arena. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. with pregame at 5 p.m. on KLIN and B-107.3.
