Several Lincoln streets will be closed or restricted next week for construction, pavement repairs and special events. Lincoln Transportation and Utilities says South 48th Street between Cotner Boulevard and Sumner Street will close Monday, September 14, for a Lincoln on the Move street improvement project.
The closure is expected to continue through winter 2026. Access to homes and the hospital will be maintained, but StarTran Route 53-SouthPointe will be detoured. Van Dorn Street between Normal Boulevard and 70th Street will also close Monday for pavement repairs. That work is expected to be completed by September 25, with access to homes and businesses maintained.
South 13th Street between “N” and “O” streets will close from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 16, for a Nelnet event. And “R” Street between 7th Street and Pinnacle Arena Drive, along with Canopy Street between “Q” and “R” streets, will close Wednesday morning through Thursday morning for Nebraska volleyball at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
LTU is encouraging drivers to use alternate routes and exercise caution around the closures.
