Lincoln Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying suspects in two recent theft cases. LPD’s Becky Keller says on Thursday, August 20 around 12:30 in the afternoon, cameras at Liberty First Credit Union captured a man coming out of the bushes and climbing underneath an RV parked in their parking lot.
“In the video you then hear what would later be determined to be the sound of a saw, Keller says. “The man climbs out from underneath the RV, catalytic converter in hand, and disappears back into the bushes.”
Keller says while the incident boldly happened during business hours, it wasn’t discovered until the buyer of the RV came to pick it up later that same day and noticed the catalytic converter missing. Keller says the suspect left behind their backpack which contained a Sawzall, blade, battery, flashlight, and other miscellaneous items. Check out the video below.
The second incident happened on Saturday, July 25 around 11:30 a.m. Keller says an employee at the Godfather’s Pizza on 33rd and ‘O’ Street had her purse stolen while she was working her shift. “A man was observed on camera, walking into the business and going to the front desk,” Keller says.
“He looks around, doesn’t see any employees, but spots a purse near a staff station.” The man is seen on video grabbing the purse and leaving the business with it. “The victim was notified of a purchase made at a nearby gas station, so she went there to locate her purse and found the man with only her wallet,” Keller says.
“She confronted him and he gave it back. He told her where he ditched her purse, and she went to go retrieve it.” Keller says the woman was able to find her purse, but missing from it was the key to her vehicle, prescription medications, and a credit card. You can see video of the theft below.
