The America First Party of Nebraska has announced its statewide and congressional candidates for the 2026 election, giving Nebraska voters another option on the November ballot. The party’s ticket includes former State Senator Brett Lindstrom for governor, with Mike Picard running for lieutenant governor.
Former State Senator Bob Krist is the party’s candidate for secretary of state, while Chuck Conboy is running for U.S. Senate. Dan Hartong is the candidate for Nebraska’s First Congressional District, and John Knight is running for state auditor.
The announcement comes days after the Nebraska Supreme Court rejected a challenge from the Nebraska Republican Party over America First’s recognition as a political party. America First Party Chairman John Cartier says the party believes voters are looking for more choices.
He says the party will focus on limiting government, reducing spending and debt, opposing new wars, increasing government transparency and holding elected officials accountable regardless of political affiliation.
“Fiscal responsibility and economic growth will be major priorities.” Cartier says Nebraska needs to attract more businesses and jobs while ensuring government spending remains sustainable. The party also says transparency and accountability will be priorities if its candidates are elected.
“We want to hold public officials accountable regardless of party affiliation.” The candidates will run their own campaigns and make their cases directly to Nebraska voters ahead of the November 3rd general election.
