It was lunch time Friday when a car plowed into the wall on the west side of the building near 63rd and Platte Avenue. “Thankfully, no one inside the car or the senior center was injured, but we are closing the senior center Monday and Tuesday,” says Jenny Hammond with Aging Partners.
As a result of the crash, the senior center near 63rd and Platte Avenue in Havelock will be closed Monday, August 31, and Tuesday, September 1. Hammond says damage assessments and a repairs still need to be scheduled.

All scheduled programs, including lunch service, are canceled at the Northeast Center through September 1. Transportation will be available to take patrons to the Victory Park Center at 600 South 70th Street for lunch and activities. Senior center staff are also contacting people who had previously scheduled transportation or lunch at the Northeast Center.

Information about senior center activities is available through Lincoln’s Aging Partners or by calling 402-441-7070.
