Lincoln Police are investigating after an SUV was found on fire around 8:30 Monday night. “Witnesses reported a black Ford Explorer was engulfed in flames in the 2500 block of Theresa Street. Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews arrived and extinguished the flames but not before the fire caused approximately $1000 damage to a nearby mobile home,” says Sergeant Chris Vigil.
A fire inspector determined the fire was likely intentionally set. “The vehicle’s owner was not present, but officers contacted her to notify of the damage. The owner estimated she had $8,000 worth of personal belongings in the vehicle. The vehicle itself was valued at $3,000,” Vigil says.
Officers spoke with witnesses and collected digital evidence. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
