Nebraska coach Matt Rhule said Anthony Colandrea will be the Cornhuskers’ starting quarterback for the season opener against Ohio.
Colandrea transferred to Nebraska from UNLV, where he was Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year last season. He threw for 3,459 yards and 23 touchdowns while also running for 649 yards and 10 touchdowns. Before that, Colandrea had been a two-year starter at Virginia, where he threw for 4,083 yards and 23 touchdowns in two seasons.
Colandrea beat out TJ Lateef, who started the last four games of the season for the Huskers last year after Dylan Raiola was injured, and Daniel Kaelin, who was a spot starter for Virginia last year after beginning his college career at Nebraska.
