Witnesses to a hit-and-run called Lincoln Police around 12:45 a.m. Friday, January 21st. They told officers that a Buick Regal hit a Pontiac Grand Prix at 8th and C and left the area. Nearby officers found the Buick at 20th and C street. There was significant damage and a piece of the Grand Prix was stuck in the Buick’s bumper.

The driver, 37 year old Patrick Hoyt had just walked into a nearby home. Officers then learned that Hoyt had two active warrants. They were able to enter the home and take Hoyt into custody.

Hoyt appeared to be intoxicated but he refused to submit to a preliminary breath test and a formal DUI test. Hoyt was booked for 3rd offense DUI with a refusal test, leaving the scene of an accident, driving during revocation, refusal of a chemical test, and refusal of a preliminary breath test.
